Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and are ready for another year full of fabulous fashion! There are a lot of potential clients out there who are would just love to start the New Year with a great new look. So start offering your services to friends and family and get as much practice as possible with wardrobe, individual analysis and personal shopping. And remember to keep a record of all the make-over’s you do to show future clients. Shopping may be the last thing on a lot of people minds with all this credit crunch talk, but you can get out there and educate people in what investment pieces they should be buying or as recently christened in Grazia magazine the VIB’s – Very Intelligent basics. Teaching an individual as to what suits them and to consider the cost-per-wear factor will save your clients money in the long-term so remind potential clients that this may be the best time to use an Image consultant to help them avoid making costly mistakes in the future!!
Trends for 2009 are very diverse from urban utility looks seen at Alexander Wang, Philosophy and Marc by Marc Jacobs to glamorous lame dresses and trousers seen on the models of Micheal Kors and Derek Lam. This Lame look ties into what I predict will be one of the biggest trends for this year, Space age chic. As we leave an era of opulent and decadent clothing behind we are seeing fashion slowly move back to a more minimalist aesthetic, with the sharp minimal tailoring of Autumn/Winter 2008 heralding a return to classic looks and shapes. This futuristic look combine’s minimalism with glam edge in it’s used of silver trimmed details. Designers such as Christopher Kane, Giles Deacon and even Chloe all had a space age feel to their collections. How the high street re-interprets this look only time will tell, but expect a little futuristic touch, be it in Perspex heels or silver handbags to be added to your wardrobe and hopefully that of your clients in the coming year. You can see more about this trend and others if you just click on the trend link.
My other big predictions for 2009 all lie in the details. Bows, feathers, and jewels were seen all over the catwalk. From bows at Moshino to feathers at Donna Karen, these new details can be a cost effective way to update any wardrobe. The addition of a belt with a big bow can make last summers dress step right into this season. Expect to see accessories with all these lovely embellishments to lift any garment or head down to your local haberdashery and get customising….This season is a stylist paradise.
